Awarded Students of the Extraordinary Scholarship of prof. Miroslav Vlček 2022

News

Scholarships in the amount of CZK 30,000 are awarded by the Study in Prague consortium, which unites 7 Prague universities (AMU, CTU, CZU, UK, UCT, VŠE and VŠUP), to foreign students who represented their schools in an exceptional way and contributed to the positive promotion of studies in foreign language at the mentioned schools and generally to promote studies in Prague and the Czech Republic.

Charles University

Paulo Sousa Palma, a student of General Medicine at the 3rd Faculty of Medicine. From the first year, he helped organize the Open Day for those interested in studying in English. After finishing his first year, he became a so-called “coach” – a mentor for a group of students from the first year, who he helped to enter a university in a foreign country, within the framework of the faculty’s student support system. He was repeatedly the main author of the student Vademec for new students entering the English program, in which he described on almost 100 pages all the most important things necessary for entering the first year. In the following years, he took over the organization of the Freshers Week event, was also the head of the international section of the Trimed student association, and since 2019 he has also been working as a student senator. Paulo was actively involved in activities for students and applicants and worked hard to reduce the barrier between Czech and English study programs. During pandemic time he created video materials for students, which are used by students to this day. In 2022, he also took home the title “Best Student Teacher”.

Czech Technical University in Prague

Farhaan Hussain, a student of the master´s program Automotive Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at CTU in Prague, has become a student ambassador with his great passion to represent CTU not only for prospective students, but also in the region of South Asia where he proudly promoted the university and his faculty even in the times of his vacation. Farhaan helped the recruitment team with organizing several recruitment events and events for new comers such as Orientation Week, ATHENS where we gather more than 200 students from all over Europe. Farhaan also actively helped with the material donation for Ukrainian refugees that the international office organized and thanks to him we were able to provide with donations to people in need.  He is soon to be proud CTU Alumni, representing the university among his colleagues at work.

Czech University of Life Sciences, Prague

Astrid Olejarz, a student of the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences, from the Czech University of Life Sciences, Prague. Astrid herself created and established the “Kámoš” platform or program that aims to help first year PhD students to absorb information on their arrival including important deadlines, explaining certain procedures at the university, organizes event within this platform and overall to discuss any issues. Astrid helps to promotes and facilitates several exchange and research opportunities such as Finnish Symposium for young researchers in Biology or the cooperation with the SLU research group between Sweden and CZU. A new facilitated cooperation is planned between the CZU and the Azabu University in Japan.

Prague University of Economics and Business

Christyn Li Ling Chew is a student of Master in Management programme at the Faculty of Business Administration at Prague University of Econmics and Business. Besides Christyn’ s excellent grades, she is an active member of the VŠE ambassadors’ team, she has promoted studies at VŠE during Open House Days, helped new coming students during Orientation Week, shares her experience from studying in Prague via blogs and posts on social medias. Christyn is an active student, she is not only involved at VŠE activities, but during summer she devoted her energy to voluntary work at Eco Centrum in Jizerské Hory. Christyn has been Buddy in ESN Buddy programme and is a member of AEGEE VŠE Praha Club, AIESEC VSE Praha (LC) Club and VSE Family Business Club.

University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague

Sergej Mrkobrada is a student of second year of master’s studies at the Faculty of Chemical Technology at University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague. Sergej’s contribution to the internationalization of University of Chemistry and Technology primarily lies in his extraordinary involvement in research already during his master’s studies. Sergej Mrkobrada’s research activity focuses on the development of new procedures for the preparation of functionalized compounds by the principles of green chemistry. The primary focus of his scientific interest is the preparation of natural compounds containing substituted aromatic hydrocarbons. In the long term, the observed reactivity will enable the transformation of natural compounds with high chemoselectivity for target-oriented organic synthesis.
