Multi-Model Data Management
Research at Charles UniversityThe general focus of our research forms the problem of efficient management of multi-mode data. The combination of data with different models and formats with naturally contradictory features brings many challenges to all related aspects. In particular, we focus on the problem of unified modelling and representation of multi-model data and management of its evolution. The latter aspect influences the data structures, instances, operation, storage strategies, etc. We propose solutions with a formal background ensuring particular features and efficiency but still easily understandable and thus applicable in real-world use cases.
We have proposed the core idea for a unified multi-model representation based on the category theory. However, since we use the theory intuitively, the unifying categorical representation can be simplified to an intuitive graph representation. Around this idea, we have already built approaches to schema inference of multi-model data and propagation of user-specified changes.
