Ph.D.Silviculture

Czech University of Life Sciences Prague - Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences

Graduates of this postgraduate (PhD) branch of study will acquire knowledge about the structure and dynamics of forest ecosystems with a particular emphasis on the options of their active affecting by silvicultural measures. The study includes all of the basic disciplines of forest cultivation, in particular, seed production, nursery management, forest tending and forest restoration. During the studies an emphasis is placed on detailed knowledge of new trends in the silviculture concept in Europe, in particular, in the area of single tree silviculture, nature-friendly management methods and new sustainable forest management methods. The students will gain detailed information about new trends and modern methods in silviculture not only in the Czech Republic but also in Europe and worldwide. Single tree silviculture, ecologically based silviculture and close-to-nature silviculture represent current trends in Europe.
