Ph.D.Forest Management
PhD Forest Management is designed to provide knowledge and the practical skills in forest stands development focusing on growth processes, acquisition of evaluation methods in terms of production, economic and environmental impacts. The emphasis is put in particular on the methods of forest mensuration data gathering, growth models, development and prediction of forest stands dynamics. The students gain insight in to the forest management planning, determination of allowable cut, evaluation of habitat and climatic conditions, impact on the growth and development of trees and forest ecosystems, application of the theory of stochastic processes, structure and development of forests production, utilisation and development of optimisation techniques and decision support systems in forest management. The graduates also develop mathematical methods skills concerning control and analysis of harmful factors impact on production and forest management. This field brings a wide range of opportunities for international cooperation. It is advantageous that the results of the research can be quickly applied in practice.
