Ph.D.Design Engineering and Mechatronics
This program prepares experts in field of new machine concepts with enhanced parameters using non-traditional structural elements, unconventional materials and mechatronic solutions, including massive implementation of new sensors and actuators. Emphasis will be placed on harmonizing the design quality of mechanical and optical parts of machines and devices, the quality of sensors and actuators and the involvement of automatic control and artificial intelligence. Simulation models supporting the design will be studied up to the Digital Twin level. Following the Industry 4.0 concept the study will focus on research topics related to the integration of robotics, ergonomics and human-machine cooperation or predictive maintenance. In the field of production machines, attention will be paid to accuracy and quality with emphasis on controlling the dimensions and quality of parts directly in the machine, productivity, reliability, minimization of environmental impact, multifunctionality, additive manufacturing and laser technologies. The study will also include the experimental activities for the verification of computational models or the acquisition of operational data of monitored machinery.
