Msc.Laser Physics and Technology
Graduate profile
Knowledge: A graduate will gain knowledge of basic physical, mathematical and informatics disciplines, which, depending on his/her closer specialization, are deepened in the field of important experimental methods and theoretical models of contemporary laser physics and technology. Graduates also have a good knowledge of technical multidisciplinary applications related to the above-mentioned issue. They can directly continue their doctoral studies in the same or related field.
Skills: A graduate is able to creatively understand and analyze physical and technical problems of his / her field, formulate and solve new problems and achieved solutions bring to practically usable results applied in solving real engineering, as well as research and scientific problems, especially in the field of laser physics and technology, photonics and computer physics. The applications of methods and procedures from basic physical, mathematical and computer fields in the solution of real physical scientific problems using modern computational techniques are commonplace. Students show the ability to prepare and realize physical experiments and perform analysis of the achieved results, together with the ability to follow new trends in a given field and quickly navigate interdisciplinary issues; analyze, computationally process and synthesize results and process these results well in scientific publishing.
Competence: Graduates will apply at master level in industry, research and the private sphere thanks to combining analytical and synthetic procedures, and systematic approach supported by acquired expertise and the ability to work with modern computational and experimental technologies and technologies.
The engineer - graduate of the specialization - will find application in all academic and industrial research and development workplaces in the field of Laser physics and technique, i.e. general laser physics, laser technology and laser applications, microelectronics, and in specialized laser and laser application laboratories, that make, together with the general knowledge of electrodynamics, solid state physics, and computational physics. The acquired knowledge can be used by graduates in doctoral studies or can work in laboratories and test rooms of enterprises, in product certification, in metrology or in the field of laser or photonic applications. Given the acquired analytical and mathematical knowledge, graduates also find employment in management and finance and have the ability to succeed in leadership positions.
Predicted employability: Graduates of this specialization are traditionally of great interest, most of them work in the field which corresponds to their qualifications which testifies to the quality and meaningfulness of their preparation. Due to the research-oriented nature it is not surprising that a significant proportion of Masters graduates increases his qualifications in the form of doctoral studies at domestic and foreign universities. Based on previous experience, several examples are given: Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (basic research - e.g. Physical Institute, incl. HiLASE, Institute of Plasma Physics, Institute of Photonics and Electronics, , etc.); ELI Beamlines (laser technologies); Optixs (laser and photonic instrumentation); CRYTUR s.r.o. (laser crystals, mirrors and components), SQS Fiber Optics a.s. (fibers); Škoda auto a.s.; ON Semiconductor CZ, s.r.o.; ČEZ, a.s.; Oracle Czech s.r.o.; Universities and research institutes around the World (Germany, France, USA, etc.); National Laboratories (USA, France, etc.).
