Graduate profile
Bioinformatics is a specialized field of the Open Informatics study program. The aim of the program is to provide applicants with a new, individually configurable program that offers computer science education unrestricted by links to already existing programs and based on state-of-the-art knowledge not only in the field of science but also education. The graduate will be able to analyze and understand large biological files, namely molecular data files. The graduate will understand the basic principles of molecular biology, he/she will have a good grasp of structured and unstructured molecular data (DNA sequences, protein structures, gene expression data, interactions among proteins, etc.). The graduate will be familiar with statistical evaluation of these data files as well as with advanced data mining techniques applicable to large and heterogeneous databases. This branch of study focuses on in silico (computer, software) techniques that complement earlier in vitro (laboratory) experiments.
