Msc.Human-Computer Interaction

Czech Technical University in Prague - Faculty of Electrical Engineering

Graduate profile

Human-Computer Interaction is a specialized field of the Open Informatics study program. The aim of the program is to provide applicants with a new, individually configurable program that offers computer science education unrestricted by links to already existing programs and based on state-of-the-art knowledge not only in the field of science but also education.

Research in the field of Computer Science brought people to the incredible advances in information and communication technologies, robotics, automation, smart digital assistants, etc. Human-Computer Interaction as one of the disciplines of computer science focuses on the interaction between the man in the role of the user and interactive computer system. With the increasing power and complexity of information and communication technologies HCI design becomes indispensable for the successful deployment of products and services based on computer technology. This is reflected in the rapid increase in the number of jobs requiring skills in the field of HCI. These positions are typically called UX Designer, UX Researcher UX Manager and Information Architect.

Make sure that the program offers a great amount of freedom in choosing elective courses. For more information feel free to visit the program website.

Graduates will gain a deep understanding of the interaction between man and computer systems. They will acquire a range of methods and techniques in accordance with the standard UCD (ISO 9241-210) for efficient design and user interface development. They learn to analyze human-computer interaction from different perspectives: software development, ergonomics, visual and interaction design, technology used and the psychological aspects (e.g. the user experience, acceptance, satisfaction, cognitive load, the issue of trust). Graduates will find particular application in software companies that develop products in a highly competitive environment such as enterprise systems or mobile applications, or in companies developing complex systems requiring complex and unusual interaction with humans. An example may be interfaces to complex analytical tools, machines and autonomous systems, and collaborative systems. Another potential application is the design of electronic communication with government agencies and authorities (e-government), especially with regard to elderly or disabled users.
