otherOne Year Intensive Program - Screenwriting
One Year Intensive Screenwriting Program at FAMU International Prague is designed to guide emerging writers into the mastery of the art and craft of screenwriting. The primary intention is to help students build a strong foundation in visual storytelling while promoting their own individual voice and creative confidence. Students are taught the fundamentals of dramatic structure, character, dialogue, and writing scenes, in addition to advanced craft like subtext, pacem and how to work within genre. Through a concentrated combination of lecture, writing workshop, script analysis, and guidance, students learn practical craft and receive direct instruction on their own writing. Collaborative practice with directing and production peers offers an understanding of the filmmaking process, illuminating each writer's understanding of how scripts are built. Revision and critical thinking take precedence in the program, educating students in building an idea through to the final draft. By the end of the year, students will have written a polished short film script (up to 25 minutes) and a portfolio of writing exercises, having them ready for further academic studies or professional screenwriting jobs on film, television, and different media forms.
