Charles University is considered to be one of the most research-intensive and international institutions in the world. It closely cooperates with various well-known institutions (CERN, the Mayo Clinic, and many more), and is continually expanding opportunities for its students to gain experience and participate in research. One stand-out example, and one of the most prominent and internationally renowned institutes of Charles University, is the Czech Institute of Egyptology.

Most of the University’s premises are situated in the historic centre of the city of Prague, in an original location that hasn’t changed since the Middle Ages, making them easily accessible via public transport from anywhere in the city. Three of the University’s faculties are situated outside Prague – two (medical and pharmaceutical faculties) in Hradec Králové and one (medical faculty) in Pilsen. Both of these are beautiful, student-friendly cities within about an hour’s journey time from Prague.
