Research of Artistic Creation in Specific Integration Group (with People with Disabilities)

The project is focused on research into artistic creation of people with mental disability in a specific integration group, i.e., with professional artists (teachers, students and graduates of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague). The purpose of such artistic creation and research in this specific integration group is to look for the possibilities of adapting and integrating people with disabilities into society through artistic creation. By living in a closed group, people with disabilities do not have the full possibility of integrating into ordinary society and interacting with the outside world.

Principal objectives: supporting the artistic activity of people with disabilities and integrating their work into the cultural life of our society. This is connected with the subsequent formation of new possibilities for the (co)existence of this minority within society and its acceptance in the public of the city. The introduction of this issue to both experts and the general public through artistic creation improves the possibilities for sociability and the subsequent integrity of people with mental disabilities. Thanks to the research, other possibilities of this creative work could be mapped to create a stable platform for artistic activities and research in this segment of artistic creation.

Research in the field of artistic creation of people with disabilities and its subsequent presentation in the form of an exhibition should provide a basis for expanding continuity for those interested in the arts, related fields, social professions, family members of people with disabilities and both experts and the general public. The works of art and the artefacts that arise during the research and the continuous process of creation are intended to aid the acceptance of this minority in our national identity on a professional level, because this specific issue has been marginalised (both in the past often today) – and not only in the field of artistic creation.
