Bioactivity and Chemistry of Tropical Medicinal Plants
Research at Czech University of Life Sciences PragueBiological activity of extracts, essential oils and their constituents derived from tropical medicinal plants used in folk medicine are evaluated for broad spectrum of in vitro antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and antiproliferative activities using standardized biological assays. The chemical composition of biologically active plant-derived products are subsequently characterized using chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques. The results are used for development of new herbal-based pharmaceutical, veterinary, food and agricultural preparations.
