Unissued Diplomas Exhibition Opens at NTK: Honoring Ukrainian Students Lost to War
NewsAuthor: Karolína OtcováThe National Technical Library (NTK) in Prague has opened the international exhibition Unissued Diplomas — a tribute to Ukrainian students who were killed as a result of the Russian full-scale invasion before they could complete their studies. The exhibition is organised by the Czech Technical University in Prague, ESN CTU, and Generation for Ukraine, and officially launched on 25 November.
Originating from a student initiative in Toronto, the exhibition has travelled through Canada, the United States, Ukraine, and several EU countries before arriving at Prague’s central student hub. Its aim is to preserve the memory of the fallen students and raise awareness of the impact of the war on Ukrainian youth.
The opening ceremony featured remarks from Milan Mikuláštík, Curator of the NTK Gallery, and Ing. Radek Holý, Ph.D., Vice-Rector for Quality Management at CTU, who stressed the universal value of education and expressed solidarity with Ukraine.
Four Ukrainian students currently studying in Prague also shared their personal reflections: Dmytro Khursenko, Kateryna Mylovydova, Daria Petrushkova, and Oksana Sydoruk. Their speeches highlighted the importance of remembrance, community support, and international academic cooperation. The audience then observed a Minute of Silence in honor of all students whose lives were taken.
A short musical performance concluded the ceremony, after which guests were invited to explore the exhibition and learn about opportunities to support student-led humanitarian initiatives. Representatives of NTK, CTU, the Embassy of Ukraine, student communities, and the public attended the opening.
The Unissued Diplomas exhibition will be on display on the ground floor of NTK until 29 January 2026.
Opening hours:
Mon–Fri: 7:30–2:30
Weekends & holidays: 9:30–2:30
We warmly invite the public to visit, reflect, and honour the students whose lives and ambitions were cut short — yet whose legacy continues.
