University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague

The University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague (UCT Prague) is among the smaller and more accessible research institutions in Europe. Supported by more than two centuries of tradition, UCT Prague represents a melting pot where scientific discovery meets a friendly study environment with a highly valued personal approach.

UCT Prague is a first-rate study and research facility in the field of technical chemistry. The university takes pride in the effective combination of practical preparation with top-quality scientific equipment combined with thorough hands-on laboratory instruction and a personal touch in its teaching style. The number of students rarely drops below 4000 while maintaining a 1:20 pedagogue to student ratio.

The university consists of 4 faculties – Chemical Technology, Environmental Technology, Food and Biochemical Technology, Chemical Engineering, and School of Business. Each of them offers a broad range of Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD. programmes in English. Students can find their calling in material engineering, petroleum technology and alternative fuels, biotechnology, microbiology, cosmetics, economy and management, and many others. UCT currently cooperates with more than 200 academic institutions around the globe both in student exchanges and research activities.

According to the prestigious Times Higher Education rankings, UCT Prague ranks among the top 4% of the best universities in the world. University graduates have an exceptionally favourable position on the labour market in the private and public sector alike and are often hired as lab directors, managers, company technologists, or scientists in their respective fields.

Among the most famous graduates are Nobel Prize Winner, Vladimír Prelog, and Otto Witcherle, the inventor of contact lenses.

UCT Prague also encourages its students to join student organisations and participate in many leisure, cultural, or sports activities (student amateur theatre, choir, ice hockey, dragon boat races, or the chemist´s run).

University facilities are located in the heart of the engineering campus in Dejvice, just a few hundred meters from Prague Castle, and are accessible by public transport from any part of the city.
