Msc.Economy and Management of Electrical Engineering

Czech Technical University in Prague - Faculty of Electrical Engineering
Applied electrical engineering studies provide a theoretical and practical education in the production and utilization of electrical components, devices and machines, as well as materials for use in electrical engineering, in PV panels and in the design and production of electric drives and machines. The study program also focuses on power generation, transmission and distribution, high voltage applications and power electronics. Mathematics and physics form a significant part of this study specialization. The master programme in EEM offers two ways of specializing: a more technical variant, and a more economic variant. Three technical study blocks provide extended knowledge of ecological aspects of materials and production in electrical and power engineering, power generation, transmission, distribution and consumption, design and production of electric drives, design and production of power system components, and design of control systems for electric machines. Two other blocks combine technology and economics. These study blocks deal with economics and management of power generation, distribution and power consumption, economics of energy savings and renewable energy sources, financial decision making, financial management, marketing, logistics, and development of energy systems.

Graduate profile

The graduate´s profile represents a type of a manager, i.e. a graduate in electrical engineering who is capable of undertaking managerial and economic posts, eventually, who is able to hold leading technical positions, especially in the field of electronic production and services. Based on the expertise in technical subjects received in bachelor degree studies of electrical engineering, computer science and other technically oriented bachelor programs that adequately continue in master degree studies, the graduate acquire a comprehensive economic education that is specifically focused on applications in the field of electronics, electrical engineering, telecommunications, information systems design, etc. Graduates hereby obtain a significant, in practice very appreciated competitive advantage, which lies in the fact that the knowledge of economy and management is based on the expertise in engineering, which allows applying the requirement on integrated engineering, which is the presumption for the competitiveness of a firm within the process policy, starting from manufacturing the product to its distribution. The graduates are able to solve demanding tasks within their managerial activities in the field of technical- economic analyses, projects, research, or teaching. On the labour market, graduates are offered managerial positions in manufacturing, trading and consulting companies, and also in the field of designing technical-economic systems etc. They are prepared for managerial and economic activities both in power and electrical engineering, as well as in related fields, i.e. infrastructure (research, financial markets, transportation etc.). Graduates have specific competence thanks to their technical knowledge. They can offer engineering thinking skills, supported mainly by mathematical competence received during their studies.
