Karlovy Vary is a picturesque spa town in the western part of the Czech Republic, only 1.5 hours by bus from Prague. The International Film Festival has been taking place in this small town for more than 50 years. At the beginning of July every year the festival, which is ranked in the same category as those in Cannes, Berlin or Venice, presents the most interesting films from all around the world. It’s one of the most important cultural events of the summer season in Czech Republic! All films (except the English-language ones) have English subtitles! And if you are tired of the screen, you can just enjoy the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of the festival in the streets of Karlovy Vary, and taste the famous local liqueur, Becherovka, or some of the healthy mineral springs.
