Graduates in geophysics or in other geosciences, but also in some other natural or technical sciences, can apply for the doctoral studies in geophysics. The study extends knowledge of the general foundations of geophysics, and specialises the students in a selected branch of geophysics. The general foundation is oriented to some advanced chapters of theoretical physics, such as continuum thermomechanics, wave propagation and electromagnetic theory. The students can select one of the following specialisations: gravity field and figure of the Earth, seismology and constitution of the Earth, geomagnetism and geoelectricity, or geodynamics. Attention is paid to mathematical and computational methods, and extended data processing. The postdoctoral graduates find their jobs mainly at universities and research institutes.
