The doctoral study program in Artificial Intelligence and Biocybernetics focuses on the development of creative skills and research capabilities of PhD students in two broad and challenging areas, namely artificial intelligence and biocybernetics and on their intersection, both in theory and practical applications. Topics of PhD theses cover the areas of artificial intelligence, machine perception, cybernetics, robotics, and biomedical engineering & informatics with the focus on computer vision, machine perception, pattern recognition, machine learning, mobile and collective robotics, data mining, knowledge representation, knowledge-based systems, nature-inspired algorithms, smart systems, assistive technologies, medical data processing and biological and medical signal and image processing. PhD students also attain the necessary knowledge in related disciplines, in particular cognitive science, physiology (in case of biocybernetics), advanced topics in mathematics, modelling and simulation, computer security, etc. The study program is based on a strong international networking and cooperation with leading academic as well industrial research units around the globe.
Development of creative skills in the fields of artificial intelligence and biocybernetics, and their applications, development of soft skills, and natural cooperation with researchers in the Czech Republic and abroad provide necessary prerequisites for PhD graduates to become leaders of research teams in related areas in the industry, in research institutes, at universities, centres of excellence, both in the Czech Republic and abroad.
