The objective of this study branch is to understand the basic principles of design of load-bearing structures in the wider context of the civil engineering. After the first two year of the study which are identical for all branches of the Civil Engineering program, the study focuses on learning the fundamental knowledge of the design of load-bearing structures made of concrete, steel, timber and other novel construction materials, their structural analysis and numerical modelling, including assessment of their interaction with the non-load bearing structures. The graduates will be able to apply their gained knowledge and skills primarily in the area of structural design and realization of buildings. The wide knowledge also allows for employment in production of construction materials and structural members, in the commercial area, in administration and in the areas requiring the fundamental knowledge of information technology. The graduates can also continue directly with their studies in the Master programs such as the Building Structures and Buildings and Environment branches, which are also instructed in English, or in the master study branches instructed in Czech (Stavební inženýrství, Budovy a prostředí or Inteligentní budovy).
