Ph.D.Electrical Engineering Theory

Czech Technical University in Prague - Faculty of Electrical Engineering
Theoretical Electrical Engineering program is an interdisciplinary program focused generally on electrical engineering, however, in the frame of this branch of study there are topics as circuit theory, electromagnetic field theory, signal theory and signal processing including digital signal processing and statistical signal processing. These topics serve as the theoretical background for interdisciplinary research at the boundary of electronics, communications, measurement technology and biomedicine. The program offers topics as speech signal processing (voice communication systems, human-machine speech interactions, pathophysiological mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases, research on speech pathology, development of new technologies to automate the evaluation of perception and speech disorders), biological signal processing (problems of scanning and processing surface EEG, intracranial EEG and EMG, including the development of new technologies), the design of electronic circuits and systems and their optimization, and development of methods for the soft magnetic material measurement.

Graduate profile

Theoretical electrical engineering PhD-graduates are the skilled experts in the following areas: statistical analysis and signal processing with applications to speech analysis and processing, biological signal processing (EEG, ECG, EMG, blood pressure, breath), analysis and design of modern electronic systems including system design for the measurement of soft magnetic materials. PhD-graduates have detailed knowledge in various methods that can be seen in document Topics for the state doctoral exam.
