The doctoral study programme in Informatics focuses on the development of creative skills of doctoral students in the whole spectrum of pure and applied informatics. Dissertation topics cover the areas of theoretical computer science, conceptual design of extensive HW and VLSI systems with specific properties, computer security, design of complex multiprocessor and distributed ICT systems, efficient computer representation of knowledge, web and knowledge engineering, creation of new computational models and paradigms, modelling of large-scale computer systems and their networks, creation of SW methodologies and advanced software engineering techniques, and so on. Doctoral students also attain the necessary combination of knowledge from specializations in informatics (for example HW-SW codesign, system-on-chip design, HW and SW co-verification using a suitably adapted or newly created models, modelling of distributed ICT systems, and so on).
Development of creative skills across the full range of computer science, development of soft skills, and the need to collaborate on solutions of research problems with other researchers and teams in the Czech Republic and abroad, provide a prerequisite for graduates as leaders of research teams in the ICT industry, in organizations dealing with analytical, expert, and consulting activities using the latest informatics, as well as researchers at universities, scientific institutions, research laboratories, centers of excellence, etc., in the CR and abroad.
